What the organization discloses
The [2024 annual report](http[local research file] PDF24, presents a funding pie with major donors59, foundation grants30 and individual donors11. The numbers sum to100 and the graphic represents shares; the page does not expressly print a percent sign, dollar denominator, accounting basis or donor-category definitions. Its major-donor slice is the largest. A separate individual-giving chart divides Checkmates60 and one-time small donors40. Do not confuse the charts or assign60 percent of total funding to monthly donors. It reports490 recurring donors, two new major donors, one new institutional donor, and foundation support in the USA and Denmark. It names neither the major donors nor the Danish foundation on this page. No individual concentration, absolute gift amount or donor condition follows from those shares.
PDF25 names founders Claire Atkin and Nandini Jammi as board co-chairs, alongside Zach Edwards, Sabrina Hersi Issa, David Carroll and Dr. Joan Donovan. The team includes Arielle Garcia as COO and Sarah K. Wiley as director of policy. This is a historical organizational roster, not proof of current offices, independent directors under tax definitions, donor appointment rights or a voting agreement. PDF25 is visibly readable; the extracted text truncates several names and titles, so the visual takes precedence.
Read as a whole, the report describes resources supporting research, communication, industry engagement and public policy together. PDF13 says its trial resources supported inquiries and publisher litigation and informed investors; PDF20 claims briefings, appearances, drafting and coalition work; PDF21 claims its recommendations entered UN information-integrity principles. Those are explicit claims about the intended pathways of influence. They do not authenticate each causal success or demonstrate that funders picked those tactics. PDF16 also attacks the reliability and intrusiveness of advertising data, while PDF17 advocates advertiser visibility and placement choices. Its stated programme therefore cannot simply be equated with support for pervasive personal identification.
The other retained annual-report original has identical extracted PDF24 content. No canonical-version or whole-document equivalence determination is made from the two filenames. Both originals remain preserved. No contracts, donor letters, internal board minutes, bank transactions or complete audited accounts were obtained.
Recipient filing discovery, with its source limit

It reports2024 contributionsUSD1,457,471. These figures are accepted only as that provider's extracted filing data, pending inspection of the actual return. They suggest a materially different accounting picture from a simple growth narrative, but cannot establish a liquidity crisis, cash runway, today's finances or a motive for February2025 advocacy. Net assets are not equivalent to cash. A zero executive-compensation summary category is not evidence that officers were unpaid; the same profile lists officer compensation.
The linked full-filing reader delivered a reconstruction shell, not the actual form. Its XML reader returned cache miss; one ordinary GET returned403 and was closed. The response bytes are explicitly a security page, not XML. Philanthropy.org's reader failed; its indexed summary independently repeats some figures, but its ordinary GET returned403 and was closed. No full return, public ScheduleB, donor-advised grant identity or financial-statement audit was acquired. The indexed Fidelity figure remains discovery and does not identify an underlying donor. Combined donor comparison
Root read donor-resources.md and independently read Ford grant144432's primary-reader substantive record. Ford approvedUSD200,000 of general support inOctober2022 forOctober2022–September2023, through Technology and Society. It is approval and term evidence, not cash payment or a2025 campaign earmark. The Democracy Fund paid/future-payment schedule distinctions are useful, but the worker's numerical row-alignment caveat remains in force: no new root facsimile check occurred. Neither later cash payments nor future commitments may be added to the Ford approval as a single year's recipient revenue. Ford's indexedMarch2025 USD400,000 remains discovery only.
The resource provision is established more strongly than its conditions. General support can sustain personnel and strategic capacity even without a project earmark; it cannot, on these records, identify the person choosing a legislative target or approving wording. The report's major-donor majority makes unidentified gift conditions at least as relevant as the named foundations. Executed awards, instalment schedules, restrictions and board delegation rules would distinguish selection of a mission from direction of a tactic.
