Government analysis and referral unit at the state–platform interface

National Security Online Information Team

The National Security Online Information Team is a DSIT operational unit working on online information threats relevant to public safety and national security. Official accounts describe public-source monitoring, ministerially agreed priorities and referrals asking platforms to consider content against their own terms.

Analysis, referrals and oversight debate

A January 2026 ministerial answer identifies GSN as providing narrative analysis. April 2026 testimony describes warnings and review requests concerning lawful-but-harmful narratives, including the Southport context, without proving particular removals or Crisp involvement. An information-rights decision confirms DSIT held a supplier-produced report and partly disclosed it in October 2025. A July 2025 committee recommended statutory footing and intelligence-committee oversight; the government's reply defended existing review channels without committing to that reform. The detailed operating policy acquired separately remains marked draft.
