Shared political framework for children's online safety across national systems
The G7 ministers' Common Set of Principles for a Safer and More Secure Digital Space for Minors was adopted on 29 May 2026. It encourages age assurance consistent with law and minimal intrusion, and was welcomed by G7 leaders in their 17 June call.
The ministers' principles do not specify a vendor, real-name system, universal access age or mandatory certification. The leaders' June call expressly welcomes them. A separate G7 privacy-authorities statement later that month references the assurance commitments while qualifying their use with privacy limits. Its ISO reference does not make certification compulsory, and none of these instruments alone establishes a deployed cross-border age system.
