TED-hosted collaborative philanthropy supporting Canary.
Audacious brings funders together around projects needing sustained support. Its Canary profile pairs METR with RAND and sets a 2027 goal for widely available pre-release evaluation capacity.
The financial record belongs to the project and its participants. Membership in the wider collective is a lead to donor records; it does not identify which member paid for which award.
For this investigation, Audacious is an upstream institution with an identifiable downstream programme. Its role makes the grant agreements more revealing than a list of famous supporters. Those agreements could specify milestones, reporting obligations, intellectual-property conditions and renewal decisions. The published Canary account establishes an overall package and a METR allocation, giving us a starting point for that inquiry. The next step is to identify which decisions belong to the convenor, the individual donors and the research organisations receiving support.
