Campaign leadership, policy access and formal company authority
Andrea Miotti is ControlAI’s founder and chief executive, with an earlier strategy and AI-policy role at Conjecture. He combines public advocacy and policy development with formal voting and appointment rights in the UK company behind the campaign, now registered as CONTROLAI.
ControlAI says it was behind the approach to Sabine Hossenfelder →
Miotti’s path into ControlAI runs through Conjecture. A parliamentary biography describes his former strategy and governance work there; the company’s earlier materials used an AI-policy and governance title. That background helps explain why ControlAI arrived with a developed view of AI risk, people from technical-safety work and a focus on government intervention.
At ControlAI, he leads an organization that produces proposals, briefs politicians and recruits wider public support. The campaign’s September 2026 account says it consulted on the Sanders–Casar framework. Miotti also stated a policy difference: the lawmakers’ broader pause went beyond the narrower approach ControlAI favored. His own public positions therefore help explain both cooperation and friction within the restriction coalition.
His authority is also visible in legal records. Miotti and Eva Behrens each hold disclosed bands of voting rights and director-appointment or removal rights in the UK company. Its articles place management and membership authority with directors. Miotti was also named in the initial US organization’s tax filing as president, treasurer and secretary for that period.
He is directly involved in explaining the campaign’s public communications. With Max Winga, he coauthored the September 8 response identifying ControlAI behind the approach to Sabine Hossenfelder and disputing her description of its editorial demands. The episode puts organizational leadership, creator outreach and the campaign’s account of its own standards in the same public record.

Read the research & sources ↗The next discriminating record is the creditor ledger entry and underlying balance confirmation/invoice/agreement, then its clearing entry. Control AI US is the custodian; the filed books contact is Miotti, and the preparer may hold workpapers. These are private records. A later public return could reveal a remaining balance without naming the creditor; that is a reopening trigger, not a promise of public donor identification.
Read the research & sources ↗On September 8, ControlAI identified itself as the organization involved . Andrea Miotti and Max Winga’s response disputes her description and says the negotiations went through her manager. ControlAI’s response
Read the research & sources ↗Separately, ControlAI's 8 September post, by Andrea Miotti and Max Winga , says it was the organization negotiating with Hossenfelder and disputes her account. The supplied Sabine transcript itself left her offeror unnamed while separately naming ControlAI as sponsoring other creators. The correct update is: ControlAI subsequently self-identified as the organization involved. Its post does not publish the underlying emails or contracts, and Paul is not named.
