Public resource and intelligence coordinator for intellectual-property enforcement

UK Intellectual Property Office

The UK Intellectual Property Office is the Patent Office operating as an executive agency and trading fund. In this investigation it funds or supports specialist enforcement, operates an intelligence intake route and coordinates counter-infringement policy work.

Money, intake and future capacity

Its 2025/26 accounts record a £2.533 million additional dividend paid to DSIT covering PIPCU actual costs since the previous such dividend; this is not evidence of a direct PIPCU bank receipt. From 11 August 2025, the IPO Intelligence Gateway replaced the old PIPCU submission form, allowing the team to develop intelligence or refer it onward. A funding announcement plans an industry co-funding pilot from April 2027 for extra capacity. It does not identify committed contributors or give them case-selection rights.
